Dr Tesfai Tecle (Eritrea)
Chair of the INBAR Board of Trustees and Special Advisor to Kofi Annan in the Kofi Annan Foundation. Dr Tecle has more than 30 years of experience in management, policy development and investment in rural development and agriculture in developing countries. Prior to taking this position, he was the Assistant Director-General and Head of Technical Cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Madam Jiang Zehui (China)
Co-chair of the INBAR Board of Trustees, Vice Chair of the Committee of Population, Resources and Environment of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Member of the Executive Committee of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology, President of the Chinese Flower Association, President of the Chinese Association of Bamboo Industry, President of the Chinese Society of Forestry and Fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science. Prof Jiang also holds many other important posts.

Dr. Rodney Cooke (United Kingdom)
Director of the Policy and Technical Advisory Division at the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development. After a distinguished career in research for development with the Natural Resources Institute in the UK, he served as head of the Technical Centre for Rural and Agricultural Cooperation (CTA) before joining IFAD. He served as a member of INBAR's Board of Trustees from 2002 – 2009 and as Chair from 2006 to 2009.

Ambassador Ali Mchumo (Tanzania)
Managing Director of the Common Fund for Commodities, the UN-affiliated body that promotes a commodity approach to development. In his distinguished diplomatic career he has served as Deputy Secretary General of the East African Community, and as Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the United Nations, the United Kingdom, Japan and Mozambique. He has served as coordinator for Least Developed Countries in the World Trade Organisation, and was Tanzania’s Minister of Trade in the early 1980s.

Mr Tang Zhongxiang (China)
Secretary of the Communist Party and Chairman of the People’s Congress in Anji county, Zhejiang province, China. In this capacity he has spearheaded the development of the Anji bamboo industry since 2006. He and his colleagues work closely with INBAR on projects, trainings and other activities to promote the bamboo industry in China and around the world.

Mr Christophe Bazivamo (Rwanda)
Chair of the INBAR Council and Minister of Forestry and Mines for the Government of the Republic of Rwanda. He has previously served as Minister of Local Government, Community Development and Social Affairs, and Minister of Internal Security. He is vice-president of the Rwandan Patriotic Front party.

Dr. J. Coosje Hoogendoorn (Netherlands)
Director General of INBAR, a position she has held since 2006. After a research career she moved into research management as head of the strategy department of Wageningen University and Research Centre in the Netherlands. She subsequently served as Deputy Director General, Research, fof the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI), now Bioversity International, prior to joining INBAR.
